Tan Lane, once leading to the Tannery, was built along the line of an ancient track way,and is at least two thousand years old. It ran from Mitton Mill Past the Old Rising Sun public house, along Tan Lane, across the War Memorial Park and down by Lickhill Manor. It finished by the River Severn where there was once a ford before the river was made navigable. It was such an important footpath that when the canal was cut, a wooden bridge was put across the canal so that the route was still usable. |
